July 31

I need to Dwell on a mistake

Entry1
I broke a rule jumped in pre-market figuring this would push a big move. Should have realized that it had not cleared resistance.

Entry 2.
Then made another "mistake" and doubled down after it went against me, which put me on more size than I would want to take buying into a loser.  After doubling the position, I had a 2% risk on the position, which is more than I would want to take on this type of set up.

Remedy:

I woke up early with a clear head.  There would be no chasing losses.  I needed to right size the position. There was a a .30 gap in the am and used that gap to unload 1/2 my position and get back to an appropriate size.    I avoid an over size risk.  The stock held its bounce and went higher all is right in the world.

July 28

This would not be my typical short setup... which is probably means this a problem.. But seeing two fades in a row-- especially on a strong day like to day suggest that a reversal is immenient

Market overview

I've traded a lot and haven't updated the journal for individual trades.  For the first time this year, I find my self entirely on the short side. But like buy strength on longs, I'm selling the weakest stocks short.

But first some index charts

VIX: RSI - piked up support -- look for a run to the green line

Biotech:  Earlier this month, and most of this year biotech were strong.  This week my biotech trades did not hold breakouts and I was repeatedly stopped out of them.

BIB, The index although one of the most bullish sectors got its breakout rammed back down.  If there's a positive it would be the that the volume is diminished.  This could start an avalanche and really get going to the down side.

IWM:

TRANSPORTS:
Transports have been weak for most of this year I think the move below the RSI support line and failed rally up to 10week and RSI line is an ominous signal.
\

ENERGY:
The phrasing continuous-- volume still strong but not blow capitulation strong.

Financials: I have no concerns yet with this sector-- It appears to be the pocket of strength sure it was down on the week but is holding the 20 day.   Bullish trades probably can still be found here.

Individual shorts:
GMCR:
This stock is massively wounded

FWRD:
Struck hard on high volume

Should continue to drip

July 13,

That's more like it.

VIX -- found its way back into the channel.  I wouldn't be surprised however if it made bounce on the red RSI line and tested the gap. That said momo is back in fashion.

Got the morning gap in several names I bought Friday.   FEYE, sold the gap and then re-bought the  position

Entry: 49.53
Exit: 50.75
Entry 2: 49.85

Some positive action on the RSI, but momo looks like it is slowing a bit.

FOLD:
Another morning gapper, sold off a portion in the AM and remainder on the fade.
Entry 14.46
Exit 1: 14.85

CARA: weekly breakout. I was a little confused on this one as it lagged for much of the day, so I cut my position size.  But when it broke out past the previous day trading range

Exit 1: 13.27
Entry 2: 13.53

Exit: 153.37

FIT:
Entry 44.11

July 9

YINN -- big gap up  but then a fade all day.  I don;t like these M/R trades but the price was right for an entry yesterday.  I'm comfortable exiting today.

Entry 28.48
Exit: 29.71

FEYE
First breakout attempt failed earlier this week.  and yet again it popped back up.  I will pay up as this has the potential to really go once a breakout gets going.

Entry 49.54 - small here. still in a volatile period position to be able to ride it out.
